Register for Formal HERE

For 2010 we're mixing some things up for Formal. Formal this year will be Saturday March 20 at the Wyndham in Glenview, it's about 5 minutes from the Willow or Golf exit off 294.

Sat, March 20th!

The address is:
Wyndham Glenview Suites
1400 N. Milwaukee Ave.
Glenview, IL 60025
847-803-9800

Dinner prices have gone up $10 on average but there is a much more flexible menu. The prices are as follows:

$50 for a vegetarian meal
$60 for a chicken, pork, fish or steak meal
$70 for a filet mignon meal

The meals come with soup, salad, entree and dessert, here are your options:

Soups:
1. Soup du Jour
2. Cream of Potato
3. Minestrone
4. Cream of Broccoli
5. Tomato Florentine

Salads:
1. Fresh greens with tomatoes, cucumbers & carrot ribbons and choice of two dressings
2. Classic Caesar salad
3. Baby spinach with sliced mushrooms, red onion and hot bacon dressing
4. Spring mix greens with sun-dried tomatoes, toasted pine nuts and balsamic vinaigrette
5. Romain lettuce with roasted almonds, Mandarin oranges, roasted red peppers with honey vinaigrette

Entrees:

Vegetarian:
1. Grilled Vegetable Strudel, grilled vegetables wrapped in Phyllo and topped with Tomato Coulis

Meat:
1. Chicken Piccata, a sauteed breast of chicken topped with Lemon Caper sauce
2. Boursin Chicken, a sauteed breast of chick with a Boursin Cheese sauce
3. Sliced Grilled Tenderloin, served with a Bordelaise sauce

Filet Mignon:
1. Filet Mignon, grilled and served with Colossal Onion Ring and Bordelaise Sauce

Desserts:
1. Cheesecake with fresh strawberries
2. Tiramisu Cake
3. Key Lime Pie
4. Carrot Cake
5. Chocolate Mousse with fresh berries

**All dinners come with dinner rolls, Starbucks coffee and Tazo Teas**

So when signing up, please specify what kind of soup, salad, entree and dessert you'd like. If you're getting a beef dish, you can also specify how you'd like it cooked, otherwise it will come well done. If you are bringing a date to dinner, please specify what he or she is having as well!!! Anyone who does not specify is eating the following:

Minestrone, Caesar Salad, Chicken Picatta and Cheesecake.

We will not be hosting a bar this year, all drinks must be purchased from the hotel bar which is a cash bar *ONLY* and is literally across the hallway from the ballroom. So if you're 21 or over and would like to purchase drinks from the bar, bring an ID.

The tentative schedule:

6:30 - Doors open
7:00 - Announcements (2010 schedule will be revealed along with new format changes for events)
7:30 - Dinner
8:30 - Awards Ceremony
9:00 - End

Remember, formal only happens once a year so don't be a cheap ass. Yeah, you're broke, so am I, so quit your crying. If you don't show up to formal without a legitimate reason (being broke is not one of them, sell some useless part you don't need) and I see you driving at an event, I will banninate you! Fellas, go get your suit dry cleaned because this is a formal, so dress appropriately. If you don't own a suit, wear your best dress shirt, slacks and tie please. Do it for the ladies, especially if you're bringing a date. Think about it, she's going to get all dolled up for you and you're going to go in a button up and jeans? Besides, this is the only time of the year we get to see each other when we're not covered in sweat, grease and tire dust.

This year, we're changing up the awards too. For the first time we are having the Driver's Choice Awards as well as the usual Staff Picks. We are also announcing which awards will be given out beforehand so you know which ones are on the line. Here are the awards that will be given out:

Staff Awards:
MVD - Most Valuable Drifter. The person who had the best overall season and promoted the ClubFR name the best
MWC Champion - Overall winner of the Midwest Cup
Prettiest Drifter - A combination of the man and machine. Who looked the best at all times.
Most Improved - Who we thought made the most progression as a driver since last year
Rookie of the Year - Which new driver impressed us the most
Shattered Dreams - Who had the most grief this year
Staff of the Year - The staff member who was the most helpful and hardest working
*NEW* Most Supportive - This for non-drivers. Who went out and supported his/her friend and/or significant other the most. We see you guys and girls coming out to events and cheering your driver on. (Hint: guys, bring your girlfriends to formal, they just might win the award)

Driver's Choice Awards:
Driver's Favorite - The person who drivers thought was the most likable, friendly, offered the most help, etc. and was generally just the best person to just hang out with in the pits
Best Line - The Driver's Driver award. Who you thought was the best driver and you tried to figure out the line and how to approach it by watching him and following that line
Best Setup - Who you thought as a driver had the best set up car. Can be based on who didn't need to pull off and do cool down laps, to who had the most traction to use all the power. You decide.

As for sleeping arrangements, you will have to arrange your own room. They are all suites and are about $120ish on average. I checked them out and they're very nice. Please give them a call and book a room in advance if you plan on staying the night.

Simba will be posting the myautoevents information soon to start collecting dinner reservations and paypal payments. The last day to RSVP will be 3/5 as they need our catering arrangements two weeks in advance. I will start a new thread on the Driver's Choice Awards soon as well. So hopefully all the new stuff is worth the extra $10. Hope to see you all there and that you all have a good time!!!

My bad. Date is Saturday March 20. You are all on your own for rooms. CFR will not be responsible for damages you guys incur so we decided not to reserve a group block.

Registration is up! You will need to register for each person, it gets way too complicated to let you register multiple people at once.

For the choices, you can put the number or copy and paste your choices, just make sure to put your choices.

Keep your partying plans open for Friday, March 19th. I'm planning a house/loft party/fundraiser.

More info coming as soon as I get a solid word from the venue!
